While the design is unique, the tone of the chime is wonderful - reminiscent of church bells and Asian temple bells.

Art is a life force, not a trade. It is an understanding of our perceptions of all we see and feel. Art is about one's soul.
"Art should represent the beauty and, occasionally, some of the fun of life." - J.L. Gaither
My art, whether you wish to label it Abstractionist or Impressionist, is more about how one feels, how one senses a subject than it is about the actual appearance of a subject. My work is a distillation of my perception of the essence of a subject into a recognizable object of art.
Art is the single most pervasive interest of my life. As a self-taught artist, I find it both amusing and gratifying when asked "Where did you receive your art training?" While I recognize the value of training and education in any field, I truly believe that none of that matters unless and until one has their hands in and on the work.
For me, "art" began in my childhood. Our home was filled with books which presented the works of Masters in all mediums. I began drawing things I saw at the age of six.
At the age of nine my father presented me with my first pocketknife and I immediately became fascinated with the idea of being able to execute my designs in three-dimensions.
My orginal designs often originate in ideas sparked by things I have done and seen in my travels all over the world - both the creations of nature and of man.
Through my work I strive to present my perceptions with simple elegance, grace and sophistication. I hope my creations give the viewer an opportunity to appreciate and enjoy his or her personal perceptions of the concepts I attempt to convey.
I hope you enjoy.
Sincerely,
J.L. (Jim) Gaither

This piece was inspired by a bright, lovely and formidable young woman.......somewhat eccentric, a bit angular and off-center . . . .
she was my youngest sister.
